Ninosheyans
Description:
Cheyenne Kewageshig is an Anishinaabe artist from Saugeen First Nation in Ontario. Born and raised in Saugeen Cheyenne always had great interest in learning her traditional language, along with exploring crafts and exercising her cultural practices that were passed down to her by her father. In 2019 Cheyenne began to bead as a creative outlet. Falling in love with the craft she continued to create one of a kind heirloom pieces; growing her business known today as Ninosheyans Beads. She is inspired by her late grandmothers bead collection, the land she grew up on, and contemporary jewellery design. She incorporates natural elements into her work such as birch bark, porcupine quills, deer & moose hide, mink & rabbit fur, caribou hair, deer antler and shells. Cheyenne is a mother of three children and currently resides in her home community. She continues to perfect her beadwork while raising her family.
